Happy New Year everyone! Matt’s kicking off 2021 with a bang as he welcomes podcasters, Nathan Brandt and Kam Konek, to the show! He chats with them about the humble beginnings of their flagship show, “The New Entertainment System Podcast,” as well as the origins of their new podcast network, “Some Good Shows.” Brandt and Konek introduce other shows on the network, including “Everything Ranked,” “The Big Three,” and “Hamburglore.” As a group, they all also discuss their love of podcasting as a medium and the communities they all hope to continue to grow in the new year.
This week Matt welcomes emcee, singer, dancer, actor, writer, and director Abe Goldfarb! The two chat about Abe’s time with Beetlejuice The Musical, his directorial debut with The Horror At Gallery Kay, as well as how he got his start in the business of show. They also discuss the plethora of voice acting gigs Abe’s had, ranging from Pathfinder: Kingmaker to Pokémon to Boy Girl Dog Cat Mouse Cheese, and more.
Today, Crash Chords is pleased to welcome guest Kati Delaney (visual artist, voice-over artist, and former Way Station bartender extraordinaire)! She joins us to discuss her voice-over work, the development of her drawing style, and–segueing into the album of the week–her many MISadventures experiencing music as a bartender. Finally we come to her album of choice: the 2016 reissue of Everybody Wants by the glam rock insurgents from the U.K., The Struts. Help us break down the album, and let us know your thoughts below!
This week, Matt welcomes Bob Salley, a writer from Boston, MA. Bob’s latest projects include the comic book, Salvagers, of which 3 issues are currently available (with the 4th on the way), and the weekly web comic, Jasper’s Starlight Tavern. You’ll hear Matt and Bob chat about the Salvagers universe and its unique set of characters, his inspiration for creating Jasper’s Starlight Tavern, his love of sci-fi, and the influence of music on the aesthetic of the Salvagers series. Also hear about his “Indiegogo” campaign — a crowdfunding site spurred by a desire to give back to the fans. And finally, stick around for some helpful advice on time management, and how to conjure up focus for the projects you’re most passionate about.
