It is plain to see that music can inspire feelings of joy, sadness, and love; but they can also incite a deeper, more primal emotional response. The feeling I speak of is lust, or a strong desire for sex. No other song, at least in my opinion, does it better than Closer, by Nine Inch Nails. Everything about this song is sex. It’s in the lyrics, it’s in the bass, it permeates the synth in such a way that it can take an average, twenty-something, tax paying, book purveying science and music blog writer and turn him into a rabid sex monster.
