Stormageddon Recommends… Week #8

his week I’m recommending a band that is relatively new to me and I’ve obsessively been listening to their brand new EP “Unidentified.” That band is The Scars Heal In Time. I had the pleasure of recently chatting with the band’s front woman and guitarist, Kayla Smith, for an upcoming episode of Autographs. It was a great conversation that I’m excited to share it with you all. The chat just made me want to listen to the band even more. The band has the previously mentioned EP and a full length record titled “Double Exposure.” The song I’m choosing for my playlist and as your starting point is their most recent single and video “Grip” which is on the EP. If you like bad ass modern hard rock then you’ll definitely love this band. Check it out!

Stormageddon Recommends… Week #7

For this week’s recommendation I’m moving back to a discography and it’s for the band The Decemberists. I have my lovely wife Sarah Storm to thank for introducing me to this band. My favorite record by them is easily their 2011 release “The King Is Dead” and my favorite song by them is “Rox In The Box” from that same record. However, for the playlist I will be including their song “Severed” off their brand new record “I’ll Be Your Girl”. This new album is quickly becoming another one of my favorites. The band plays a lot with genre on this album which I find quite fun and refreshing. The song “Severed” is this fantastic meeting point between new wave, classic rock, folk and indie rock. I think this song and album are a great place to start for new fans.

Stormageddon Recommends… Week #6

For week number six I want remind everyone how important it is to laugh. My latest choice is the newest release from the folks over at Bad Lip Reading called “It’s Not A Moon” What I love about every song they put out is that not only are they funny and charming but they are also catch as hell. These human know who to make solid, get stuck in you head for days type music. The songs are great on their own but the video is the complete experience. FYI the song isn’t on Spotify yet but I’ll add it to my playlist as soon as it is.

Stormageddon Recommends… Week #5

For this week’s recommendation I’m sharing a brand new record from one of my favorite artists, Andrew W.K. He is one of the kindest and most down to earth people I’ve ever met. His music and personality are raw joy and positivity. His new record is called “You’re Not Alone” and it is a cacophonous party of rock and pop. If you need a something that is fun and heartfelt this is definitely the record for you. My song focus is the single “Ever Again” which is incredibly uplifting and powerful.

Stormageddon Recommends… Week #4

For this week’s recommendation I’m recommending a band. That band is Flobots. They are a band that seamlessly mixes some of my favorite genres of music from hip hop to folk to rock to pop to indie and more. I highly recommend all of their albums but my favorite is The Circle In The Square which was released in 2012. My favorite song by them however and the one I’m putting the playlist is from their 2010 release called Survival Story and is called “If I.” They flow with a rebel energy and are incredibly diverse. Definitely worth checking out.

Stormageddon Recommends… Week #3

This week’s recommendation starts with a thank you. Thank you to Bunny Buxom and Schaffer the Darklord for introducing me to this artist. The song I picked this week is “Run For Your Life” by the incredible K.Flay from the upcoming Tomb Raider movie. I love this track for so many reasons. Her seamless shift from singing to rapping. The instrumental progression is killer and keeps it interesting. The verses are about the lyrics but the chorus is about a feeling and the sound. The instrumental bridge is stunning.

Stormageddon Recommends… Week #2

This week I’m recommending first single from Tatiana DeMaria, the front woman for TAT who is working on a solo record. Her song “Too Much” is a fast paced pop/rock/punk mash up. I love the pace of this track. Gets me rockin’. Also I love Tatiana’s voice she is one of my all time favorite vocalists. She has such incredible range and power.

No New CCP This Week… But Wait! In Related News: “EPIC PIEcast” Features Matt Storm!

Hello CCP fans! Due to a certain NYC “blizzard” (and we use the term loosely), we were unable to record this week. Fear not though! We’ve rescheduled, and our episode featuring Kita St. Cyr will air a week from today. But that’s not all! Recently, Matt had the honor of being a guest on this month’s EPIC PIEcast hosted by former guests, entrepreneurs, and comrades-in-mics, Schaffer The Darklord, Charles Stunning, and Nelson Lugo. Reversing Matt’s role as CC: Autographs host, he’s in the hot seat this time, first tasked to explain why he started Crash Chords and why he keeps doing it, and finally to discuss… music! Go figure. So go ahead and supplement your analytical withdrawals now with this bizarre and informative listen!
